Dive Watch Water Resistance
A diving watch that is able to survive Scuba Diving to a depth of 30 meters, should carry a Water resist mark of 200 Meters/660 Feet, in accordance with the ISO Standards: ISO 2281 and ISO 6425.
The Diving Watches Water resistance relates to pressure as measured in the equivalent of a static tank of water at a given depth under water, given the consideration that the faster an object is moved in or against water, the greater the pressure on the watch. For that reason, a watch that is water resistant to 30 metres may leak if exposed to water coming forcefully from a tap, or worn whilst viourously swimming or diving, as the increased pressure may exceed the designed resistance. A watch rated 30 Meters, therefore, would not be expected to survive Scuba Diving to 30 Meters, but would be expected to survive light splashing, for example wearing in the shower.
